Colleen Brown is an accomplished prosecutor, proven leader, and dedicated public servant with more than a decade of experience serving Southern Nevada through the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.

After moving to Nevada in 2009, Colleen began her career as a Law Clerk with the District Attorney’s Office, where she focused on appellate briefs, motions, and oral arguments before the Eighth Judicial District Court. Her commitment to excellence and strong legal acumen quickly led to her promotion to Deputy District Attorney, and later to Chief Deputy District Attorney in 2016.

Today, Colleen serves as the Team Chief of the Major Fraud and Elder Abuse Unit, a role she has held since 2022. In this position, she oversees and prosecutes complex, high-stakes cases involving significant financial loss, public integrity, organized retail crime, and the abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults. These cases often involve multiple defendants, extensive investigations, and life-altering consequences for victims.

Throughout her career, Colleen has worked across several specialized units, including Domestic Violence, Vehicular Crimes, and Major Fraud and Elder Abuse. She has successfully prosecuted cases impacting the resort corridor, families, seniors, and local businesses, and has handled matters ranging from DUI and fatal traffic collisions to white-collar crime and murder. Colleen has tried more than 30 cases before Clark County juries and has argued appeals before both the Nevada Court of Appeals and the Nevada Supreme Court.

Beyond the courtroom, Colleen is deeply committed to community service and professional mentorship. She has served as a Transitioning Into Practice (TIP) mentor, trained law enforcement officers, coached mock trial teams, and volunteered as a judge at mock trial competitions. Her leadership extends to numerous boards and committees, including the Vulnerable Adult Fatality Review Committee, the Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics, and the Clark County Prosecutors Association, where she serves as secretary. She is also secretary of the Board of Directors for Let’s Talk! Child Development Center and has previously served on the Nevada Commission for Women.

Originally from the Midwest, Colleen earned her Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Marquette University, graduating cum laude, before obtaining her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. During law school, she gained valuable experience through internships with the Office of the Judge Advocate General and civil litigation firms.

Colleen has lived in Henderson for more than 13 years, where she remains deeply connected to the community she serves. Outside of work, she values time with her family and friends and remains driven by a simple principle: public service should always put people first.
